Cenkos News - Healthcare at the Forefront of Scientific Discovery
If we cast our minds back and remind ourselves of the main events that dominated news headlines in 2011 we'd struggle to find many positives. Global growth was challenged by the tsunami in Japan, social unrest in North Africa and the Middle East, political brinkmanship in the US and financial upheaval in Europe. Although stock markets generally finished flat on the year, peak-to-trough plunges of 20%or more were witnessed as investors grappled with events.

 The S&P500 Index started 2011 at 1,257.64 and finished at 1,257.60. During the year the index fell 21.5% from its high at 1,370.58 on 2nd May to its low at 1,074.77 on the 4th October.
